What to Expect From Star Wars Rebels Season 3
Star Wars Rebels returns to our TV screens this Saturday (September 24th, 2016). However, if you can’t wait until then, you are in the right place! Today’s video will cover, as spoiler-free as possible, the events of the premiere episode, which was first screened at Star Wars Celebration Europe this past July. Without any further ado, here is what to expect from Star Wars Rebels Season 3.
In the finale of Star Wars Rebels season two, Maul introduced Ezra Bridger to a Sith Holocron, Kanan Jarrus was blinded, and Ahsoka Tano’s fate was left undetermined following a lightsaber duel with Darth Vader. The period of time between then and the premiere of season three is unclear. However, Ezra is now older, taller, with shorter hair, and a greater control of his light and dark side Force powers. He, Sabine Wren, Zeb and Chopper open the episode with a daring mission to rescue their old friend and nemeses Hondo Ohnaka. Throughout the assignment, Ezra displays his leadership skills, which develops an arrogant attitude. Meanwhile, still saddened by the loss of his eyesight, Kanan has removed himself from all Phoenix Squadron activities, and seems to have abandoned Ezra and the others. While meditating on Atollon, a strange voice reaches out to the Jedi. Jarrus discovers the Force-sensitive individual known as The Bendu, who represents the center of the Force, between the light side and the dark. He begins to teach Kanan about the balance he is missing. Finally, to combat their struggles against the Rebellion, the Galactic Empire utilise a larger fleet, commanded by Thrawn, who aims to let the Rebels become their own downfall…
Overall, the two part-episode is said to feel much more “serious” in comparison to the show’s early episodes. So it will be interesting to discover if or how Ezra falls to the dark side and what Kanan is willing to do to save his Padawan. Speculation aside, we do know two things for certain. Number one: Thrawn’s screen time in the premiere is very limited, maintaining his air of mystery. And number two: Sabine Wren will have more of a main character role in the entirety of season three, which is an exciting prospect. So, what do you expect from Star Wars Rebels season three?
