Star Wars Lore – The Life of Raymus Antilles
As a level-headed starship officer schooled in diplomacy, Captain Raymus Antilles became the designated pilot of Alderaan's royal family. As such, his loyalty firmly lay with the House of Organa, even if it meant certain death during the rise of the Rebellion...
Rise of the Rebellion (Legends)
Born on the peaceful planet of Alderaan into the prominent House of Antilles, Raymus belonged to the same family as Queen Breha, although he held no title of his own. Regardless, Antilles was schooled in diplomacy and became a capable starship pilot. In fact, under the tutelage of his mentor, Jeremoch Colton, Antilles acquired the rank of captain shortly before the outbreak of the Clone Wars. Such competency earned him the right to pilot the consular vessel of Bail Organa, the Sundered Heart. As a result, he often flew the craft between Alderaan and Coruscant for the senator. The execution of Order 66 only heightened he and the Sundered Heart's significance. For example, the starship was used to transport Jedi Masters Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi to and from the galactic capital, saving not only their lives, but also the lives of countless other Jedi. In the nineteen year that followed, Antilles proved himself to be an exceptional leader, as he broke through countless Imperial blockades to gather supplies for the Rebel Alliance. He also personally destroyed six Imperial shipyards during the Battle of Kuat, before saving Rebel transports from certain doom. These showcases of bravery and skill awarded him ownership of the Sundered Heart, which he used for only the most dangerous of missions. Otherwise, Raymus was found at the controls of the Tantive IV.
A Diplomatic Mission (Canon)
As a loyal servant of House Organa, Antilles found himself under the command of Princess Leia, who succeeded her father as Senator of Alderaan. The pairing's shared fearlessness and willingness to destroy the Empire at any cost seemed to bode well for the conflict ahead. Their opportunity to change the course of galactic history came during the Battle of Scarif, when the Tantive IV received a transmission of the Death Star plans. Unfortunately, their escape through hyperspace was tracked by Darth Vader's flagship, the Devastator. This did not phase Antilles, however, as he remained loyal to Organa right until the very end. Even in the face of death, Raymus failed to reveal the location of the Death Star plans...
