Why Kylo Ren is BETTER Than Darth Vader... According to Donald Glover
During the build up to Solo: A Star Wars Story, Donald Glover was asked in a Noisey questionnaire which droids he preferred: L3-37, or C-3PO and R2-D2. Surprisingly, Lando Calrissian himself chose the former, claiming that L3 had a “way better take on life.” Humour and perhaps bias to one side, however, it was his answer to a follow-up question that really began to turn heads – one that pitted Kylo Ren against Darth Vader...
Darth Vader is perhaps the greatest movie villain of all time. So straight off the bat Kylo Ren was fighting an uphill battle to even compete with his grandfather. But in my personal opinion, which is most definitely an unpopular one, I believe Kylo Ren to be a far more interesting and dynamic character. I mean, let's face it: Darth Vader was rather two-dimensional. So much so that it took six films in all to properly express his inner turmoil. Apparently in agreement, Donald Glover told Noisey this when asked which of the two characters he preferred:
“Kylo Ren has a really interesting sense of humour. He’s intense, I get his story. So I kind of have to go with Kylo Ren.”
An interesting sense of humour, eh? Well, I guess that's one label for intense violent outbursts. But what do you think? Which antagonist do you personally prefer? Let me know in the comments below.
